Coordination level and influencing factors of new urbanization and common prosperity of farmers and rural areas

Abstract
Promoting the coordinated development of new urbanization and the common prosperity of farmers and rural areas is a crucial path to thoroughly implement Chinese modernization and the rural revitalization strategy.Based on provincial-level panel data from 2012 to 2023,this article employed a combination of methods including the coupling coordination model,kernel density analysis,Dagum Gini coefficient and geographic detector to systematically analyze the spatiotemporal differentiation law and socio-economic interaction effects of the coupling coordination between new urbanization and common prosperity of farmers and rural areas.The results indicated that:(1)From 2012 to 2023,the coupling coordination degree between new urbanization and common prosperity of farmers and rural areas showed an upward trend,but remained at a barely coordinated stage overall.(2)The coupling coordination degree primarily followed a pattern of"near-disharmony → barely coordination",exhibiting a step-like spatial distribution pattern of"high in the east and low in the west"as well as an evolutionary pattern of"leading in the easet and catching up in the west".(3)Regarding influencing factors,fiscal self-sufficiency rate and government involvement level were the dominant determinants of coupling coordination degree.The results of interaction detection revealed that the interactive explanatory power of the economic development level and the agricultural economic scale was the strongest.This study innovatively integrated coupling theory into the research field of new urbanization and common prosperity of farmers and rural areas,deeply analyzed the coordination level,regional heterogeneity,dynamic evolution law and influencing factors between the two,and forming the core research goal.Based on the findings,policy implications were proposed:establishing an inter-regional coordination mechanism to narrow the regional gap,optimizing urban-rural development layout to promote its integrated development,and prioritizing agricultural economic development to enhance its scale and efficiency.关键词
