Can new quality productive forces effectively enhance forestry ecological total factor productivity?

Abstract
Promoting the green transformation and high-quality development of forestry is an important measure for China to practice ecological civilization construction and achieve the"dual canbon"goals.Using panel data on 30 Chinese provinces from 2014 to 2022,this study empirically examined the impact of new quality productive forces on forestry ecological total factor productivity(FETFP)and its underlying mechanisms by employing a double machine learning model.The results indicated that:(1)new quality productive forces significantly enhanced FETFP,and the core conclusions remained robust after multiple robustness checks and the use of instrumental variable methods to address endogeneity.(2)Mechanism analysis revealed that new quality productive forces promoted FETFP through the accumulation of human capital,the optimization of forestry industrial structure,and the enhancement of forestry technological innovation capacity.(3)Heterogeneity analysis showed that in regions with stronger environmental regulation,higher green finance support,and eastern China,the positive effects of new quality productive forces on FETFP were more pronounced,revealing clear regional disparities.The article systematically explored the impact path of new quality productivity on FETFP,constructed a mechanism framework mediated by human capital accumulation,forestry industrial structure optimization and forestry technological innovation capacity,and enriched empirical research in the field of enhancing forestry ecological efficiency.The article put forward policy implications:accelerate the cultivation of new quality productive forces,strengthen the foundation of the forestry green transformation,focus on optimizing the forestry industry structure,establish a green and efficient modern forestry system,adopt measures according to local conditions and classify policies,promote the coordinated upgrading of regional forestry,and achieve the simultaneous improvement of ecological and economic benefits.关键词
