Functional roles of transposable elements in the immune system
摘要
Abstract
Transposable elements(TEs)are widely distributed across eukaryotic genomes and serve as pivotal drivers of genomic architecture plasticity,regulators of gene expression and genome evolution.Emerging stud-ies have illuminated their important roles in the immune system.The transcription of TEs may activate innate immune responses,and TEs may also function as cis-regulatory elements involving in immune-related regula-tory networks.This review provided a comprehensive framework for high-throughput sequencing based stud-ies in TEs and human immune relative diseases.We first summarized the bioinformatics tools and multi-omics strategies developed for studying TEs,and then systematically elucidated the multifaceted biological roles of TEs in antiviral immunity,autoimmunity and tumor immunity.Lastly,we discussed the translational potential of TEs in immunotherapy and how cutting-edge multi-omics,deep learning and other advanced technologies could redefine the TEs-centered research.关键词
