摘要

Abstract

In cold regions,ice cover or even ice jam frequently occurs in river during winter,which signifi-cantly altering flow conditions and complicating sediment initiation mechanisms.Based on Einstein's division hypothesis of flow resistance and adopting an exponential velocity distribution formula,a unified sediment in-cipient velocity formula for open channel flow,ice-covered flow and ice-jammed flow under diverse roughness combinations is established and validated with experimental data.The results show that calculated sediment incipient velocities by the proposed formula agree well with experimental data,the average relative error re-duces to 4.256%after considering the different sediment motion incipient criteria under different experimental conditions,compared that of 7.245%to 10%calculated by conventional formulas in the literature.The incipi-ent flow velocity for sediment motion in open channel flow is greater than that in ice-covered flow,and the lat-ter is greater than that in ice-jammed flow.The maximum incipient sediment particle size under varying bound-ary conditions ranks as:ice-jammed flow>ice-covered flow>open channel flow.
