Abstract

The"Demonstration of Precision Filtration,Water-Saving Irrigation,and Salt Control for Productivity Enhancement in Sandy Saline-Alkali Soils of Xingqing District,Ningxia"is Topic 5-4 under the project"Water-Saving and Salt Control Technolo-gies for Productivity Enhancement Pattern and Applications in the Hetao Plain of the Upper Yellow River Basin",part of the National Key R&D Program's special initiative on"Medium-and Low-Yield Farmland".This paper presents an introduction to the integrated model and demonstration results for precision seepage and water-saving control in sandy saline-alkali land in Xingqing District,Ningxia,based on an interview with Professor Tian Juncang,the topic lead,conducted by Professor Wang Zhongjing,the project principal.Key insights include:① Hydraulic engineering serves as the foundation for the comprehensive management and utilization of saline-alkali fields;② Irrigation synergy acts as the link between the regulatory force of hydraulic engineering and the biological force of agronomic techniques within the coupling of the water-soil-plant-bio system;③ Hydraulic engineering lays the groundwork for biotechnology,while biotechnology collaborates with hydraulic engineering to enhance efficiency.The interview emphasizes that the complexity of saline-alkali field challenges necessitates an integrated approach,which goes beyond mere techni-cal superposition to include spatio-temporal optimization of engineering,agronomy,biology,chemistry,and management strate-gies based on principles of system science.The precision seepage water-saving and salt-control comprehensive management model for sandy saline-alkali fields in Xingqing aligns with the zoning and classification governance strategy for saline-alkali fields,serving as a template for the improvement of sandy saline-alkali lands.
