Research Progress of Traditional Chinese Medicine in Protecting Schwann Cells from Diabetic Peripheral Neuropathy by Inhibiting Inflammatory Responses
摘要
Abstract
Diabetic peripheral neuropathy(DPN)is the main cause of lower extremity amputation and disabling neuropathic pain.Schwann cells(SCs)are the main glial cells in the peripheral nervous system and play a crucial role in the repair after nerve injury.Inflammatory response damage to SCs is an important factor in the occurrence and development of DPN.At present,the treatment of DPN has not yet achieved the desired effect.Traditional Chinese medicine(TCM)has achieved better clinical results in the prevention and treatment of DPN with its unique advantages of multi-targets and multi-pathways.TCM effectively inhibits the apoptosis of SCs and improves neurological function by regulating the nuclear factor kappa-B(NF-κB)signaling pathway and the Nod-like receptor protein 3(NLRP3)inflammasome.This paper summarizes the intervention of TCM in inhibiting inflammatory response and intervening in the apop-tosis of SCs from the aspects of single traditional Chinese medicinal and compound active ingredients,with a prospect of providing a reference for the integrated traditional Chinese and Western medicine prevention and treatment strategies of DPN.There are 41 references.关键词
