Study on Electrochemical Reduction of Oxygen for Hydrogen Peroxide Production
摘要
Abstract
Hydrogen peroxide(H2O2)is an environmentally friendly,efficient and clean oxidizer,which is widely used in various fields.Currently,the large-scale industrial production of H2O2 relies on anthraquinone process,which suffers from drawbacks such as high energy consumption,complex process,environmental pollution,and potential hazards during transportation and storage.The electrochemical synthesis of H2O2 through the two-electron oxygen reduction reaction(2e-ORR)is a clean and efficient method that enables on-site preparation with a wide range of applications.Consequently,it has emerged as one of the most appealing research di-rections for on-site production of H2O2 in recent years.This paper provides a state-of-the-arts review of the most important aspects of this process.The principles and process of electrocatalytic reduction of O2 to H2O2 and the test-evaluation methods are first intro-duced,and the applications of several major catalysts(such as noble metal catalysts,non-precious metal catalysts,and carbon-based catalysts)are reviewed.The focus is on the modification of carbon-based catalysts including defect engineering,pore-structure adjust-ment,heteroatom doping,and metal-active sites.The study of reaction equipment and gas diffusion electrode for electrochemical syn-thesis of H2O2 is then discussed.Additionally,the application prospects of electrochemical synthesis of H2O2 in wastewater treatment,sterilization,bleaching,and energy storage were also introduced.Finally,the current deficiencies of this research were summarized,and the insights into the future research directions were prospected.关键词
