Shanghai Expert Consensus on Venous Access Selection for Adults

Abstract
Objective To develop the Shanghai Expert Consensus on Venous Access Selection for Adults(hereinafter referred to as the Consensus),aiming to standardize the clinical evaluation,selection,insertion and maintenance of venous access in adult patients,enhance the safety and scientific rationality of intravenous therapy,and promote the standardization of intravenous therapy nursing practice.Methods Two rounds of Delphi expert consultation and one round of expert argumentation were conducted on Chinese and foreign guidelines,systematic reviews and evidence for venous access management,along with clinical nursing practice and expert experience in China.Finally,a draft Consensus was developed and refined.Results For the two rounds of expert consultation,the questionnaire response rates were 100％,the authoritative coefficients were 0.930,and the concordance coefficients were 0.162 and 0.204,respectively(P<0.05),indicating consistent expert opinions.Based on expert argumentation,the following 7 aspects were covered in the final Consensus:definition and classification of venous access,principles for device selection,recommended insertion sites and tip position,catheterization techniques and assistance devices,assessment pathway for access selection,health education and follow-up management,and quality control and safety management.Experts generally agreed that the Consensus is highly scientific,feasible and clinically relevant.Conclusion The Consensus provides clinical nurses with evidence and practice for intravenous therapy nursing.It holds positive significance for improving catheterization success rates,preventing complications and enhancing nursing quality.关键词
