A Dynamic Assessment Method for Quarry Reserves Using Close-range Visual Aerial Surveying

Abstract
Assessment of quarry reserves is a persistent challenge during rockfill dam construction.Traditional geological prospecting methods are costly,inefficient,and inadequate for dynamic tracking.Based on drone-based close-range visual aerial surveying,a dynamic method for assessing quarry reserves is proposed.First,the high-precision three-dimensional models of the excavation faces are reconstructed through close-range aerial surveying,and the rock types at excavation faces are rapidly classified by capturing visual features and integrating geological prior knowledge.Subsequently,the mass visual-interpreted data of materials,preliminary geological survey information and borehole data are combines to construct a spatial distribution model of geological attributes using the Kriging method,achieving the dynamic reserve assessment based on real-time geological conditions at excavation faces.Application to a concrete faced rockfill dam project shows that the assessment result has an average deviation of 2.75%compared to handheld RTK measurements,which demonstrates a high accuracy and reliability under complex terrain conditions.This study can provide technical support for the refined dynamic management of quarries in high dam construction.关键词
