摘要

Abstract

Heavy rainfall is one of the most important factors affecting the safety of tailings dams.A rainfall infiltration model and a numerical model were developed to analyze the seepage characteristics and stress response of fine-grained tailings under heavy rainfall for 20,50 and 100-year return periods based on rainfall intensity-duration-frequency curves.The results demonstrate that:(1)The wetting front depth and the mode of rainfall infiltra-tion into fine-grained tailings have a significant positive correlation with rainfall intensity.The greater the intensity of rainfall,the faster the infiltration rate of wetting front.When the rainfall intensity is greater than the infiltration capacity of the tailings,the top tailings will accumulate water and gradually saturate.(2)The pore gas pressure in capillary zone of unsaturated tailings hinders rainfall infiltration,and the greater the saturation of tailings,the faster the rates of infiltration and seepage of rainfall.(3)Heavy rainfall infil-tration reduces the effective stress of fine-grained tailings,and its stress response is closely related to rainfall intensity,duration and wetting front depth.
