摘要

Abstract

Animal production plays a crucial role in agriculture.Reducing methane and other greenhouse gas emissions is not only the key to driving the sector's green and low-carbon transformation and enhancing animal production efficiency,but also an essential path to improving agricultural quality and efficiency while addressing climate change.Grape polyphenols,found in grape skins,seeds,and fruits,can improve the dry matter intake,nutrient digestibility,fermentation parameters,nitrogen utilization,and production efficiency when added to the feeds of ruminants,while also reducing methane emissions.This review summa-rizes recent research on the effects of grape polyphenols on rumen methane emissions,volatile fatty acids production,nitrogen utilization and methanogenic bacterial communities in ruminants.It would serves as a reference for the development of grape polyphenols as a strategy to mitigate rumen methane emissions and as potential rumen methane inhibitors,guiding further research and application.
