Abstract

Landslide surge has great destructive power and poses a serious threat to the safety of reservoir dam.Taking the Qugangding landslide in the upper reaches of the Jinsha River as an example,this paper conducts an in-depth study of landslide surge based on landslide stability and potential instability range.On the basis of detailed analysis of landslide development characteristics,the stability of landslide under different conditions(natural,rainstorm,earthquake and water storage)is studied based on FLAC3D.Based on the potential damage range,the surge risk of landslide under different instability conditions is systematically assessed by empirical formula method and FLOW-3D numerical simulation technology.The results show that Qugangding landslide remains stable under natural conditions.Under the conditions of rainstorm and earthquake,the local displacement of landslide increases but no overall slip surface is formed.Under the condition of water storage,the landslide front has a large displacement,showing signs of local instability.By comparing the simulation results of different potential instability ranges,it is found that the combined algorithm of energy method and Pan Jiazheng's method is slightly lower in velocity prediction than FLOW-3D numerical simulation,and similar in initial surge height prediction,but the numerical simulation results of surge height to the dam site of hydropower station are higher.The overall slide of the landslide will cause an initial surge of about 67 meters,and the maximum surge impact on the dam site is 9.69 meters with the comparison to other working conditions.This study can provide important reference for the prediction,evaluation and prevention of landslide surge disaster.
