Abstract

Aquatic products trade is one of the most extensive and penetrating fields in world trade.Both China and ASEAN are significant global economic entities in the aquatic products trade,and their cooperation is of great significance.Fangchenggang is the only city in China that is connected to ASEAN by sea,land,and rivers,with Vietnam just across Beilun River.Fangchenggang serves as an important intersection of the Belt and Road Intiative,playing an important strategic role in ASEAN free trade area.Based on Fangchenggang's fisheries foundation and the current state of China-ASEAN aquatic products trade,this paper examines the prospects for bilateral cooperation and Fangchenggang's advantages.It proposes the concept of establishing Fangchenggang as a hub for China-ASEAN aquatic products trade and processing.Recommendations include establishing a comprehensive deep-sea fishing support base to attract more catches to its port,deepening fisheries collaboration with ASEAN countries to build a stable supply system for aquatic products,enhancing local processing capacity,and actively promoting facility-based fisheries to strengthen local supply capabilities.
