A Study on Ancient Book Collections in Xuzhou
摘要
Abstract
Xuzhou has witnessed bibliophilic activities since the Spring and Autumn period,a tradition that endured through successive dynasties.During the pre-Qin and Han dynasties,collectors in Xuzhou primarily focused on military texts and Confucian classics.The collaborative efforts of Liu Xiang and his son Liu Xin in systematizing the imperial book collection significantly improved the quality of government archives.From the Wei-Jin to the Song-Yuan periods,advancements in writing materials and printing technology fostered distinctive features in Xuzhou's ancient book collections,including a growing number of collectors,an expansion in the scale of collections,and the development of systematic cataloguing.During the Ming and Qing dynasties,book collecting in Xuzhou achieved a balance between official and private holdings.Official collections were primarily housed in county schools and academies,while private collections were closely linked to scholarly research and made a substantial contribution to local cultural development.关键词
