Effect of Primary Nursing Interventions Guided by the JBI Evidence-Based Model on Nursing Outcomes in Patients with Severe Traumatic Brain Injury

Abstract
Objective To investigate the effect of primary nursing interventions guided by the Joanna Briggs Institute(JBI)evidence-based model on nursing outcomes in patients with severe traumatic brain injury(sTBI).Methods This retrospective historical control study included 118 patients with sTBI admitted to Kaifeng Central Hospital from January 2022 to June 2025.Patients were allocated to groups according to the initiation time of the JBI model-guided primary nursing program.The control group(n=59),enrolled before program initiation(January 2022 to June 2023),received routine postoperative nursing care.The observation group(n=59),enrolled after program initiation(July 2023 to June 2025),received JBI evidence-based model-guided primary nursing interventions in addition to routine care.The Glasgow Coma Scale(GCS)score and Barthel Index(BI)were compared between the two groups before intervention and at discharge,and the incidence of complications was also compared.Results Compared with the control group,the observation group had higher GCS scores and BI scores at discharge,and the differences were statistically significant(P＜0.05).Compared with the control group,the observation group had a lower incidence of complications,but the difference was not statistically significant(P＞0.05).Conclusion Primary nursing interventions guided by the JBI evidence-based model can improve neurological function and activities of daily living in patients with sTBI.However,whether these interventions reduce the incidence of complications requires further validation in studies with larger sample sizes.关键词
