Application of Shape Memory Alloy Wire Correction Combined with Physical Packing in the Treatment of Adolescent Ingrown Toenail Paronychia

Abstract
Objective To explore the clinical effect of Shape Memory Alloy(SMA)wire correction combined with physical packing in the treatment of adolescent ingrown toenail paronychia.Methods Thirty adolescent patients with ingrown toenail and paronychia,treated at the hospital between September 2021 and June 2022,underwent correction using shape memory alloy wire combined with physical packing.Post-treatment pain levels[using the Visual Analogue Scale(VAS)],clinical efficacy,and recurrence rate were evaluated.Results All 30 patients in this group successfully completed the corrective treatment,with their inflammation and pain gradually subsiding.One month after treatment,VAS scores at rest and during movement were significantly lower than pre-treatment levels in all patients(P<0.05).During the 1-year follow-up,27 patients(90%)were cured,2 patients(6.7%)showed improvement,and 1 patient(3.3%)experienced recurrence.Conclusion The combined treatment of ingrown toenail with paronychia using SMA wire correction and physical packing offers a simple and straightforward procedure,provides rapid pain relief,demonstrates proven clinical efficacy with a low recurrence rate,and deserves wider clinical adoption.关键词
