Abstract
This study systematically evaluated monkeypox knowledge and awareness rates among men who have sex with men,to reveal the current status of,and differences in monkeypox knowledge in this population.The aim was to provide a scientific basis for formulating targeted health education strategies.We searched the Cochrane Library,PubMed,Web of Science,Embase,CINAHL,CNKI,VIP,Wang Fang Data,and CBM databases to study monkeypox awareness rates among men who have sex with men.The search period was from the establishment of the database to December 1,2024.Literature screening and information extraction were conducted by two independent researchers,and meta-analysis was performed in Stata 18.0 software.A total of 23 studies were in-cluded,with a total sample size of 39 574 cases.The meta-analysis indicated that the monkeypox awareness rate among men who have sex with men was 58.9％(95％CI:48.0％-69.8％).Group analysis results indicated higher monkeypox awareness rates of 46.1％(95％CI:35.2％-57.0％)in those 31-45 years of age,43.3％(95％CI:34.4％-52.2％)in those with an education level of college de-gree or above,43.9％(95％CI:34.0％-53.8％)in unit staff,38.9％(95％CI:25.5％-52.4％)in those with a monthly income≥5 000 yuan,43.1％(95％CI:18.2％-68.1％)in those who often paid attention to monkeypox information,42.3％(95％CI:31.8％-52.7％)in those who were unmarried,40.9％(95％CI:32.1％-49.7％)in those with a homosexual orientation,45.7％(95％CI:36.6％-54.9％)in those with HIV infection,and 43.5％(95％CI:37.7％-49.3％)in those with STIs.The results suggest that the awareness level of mon-keypox knowledge among men who have sex with men remains insufficient.Targeted health education and intervention measures are ur-gently needed to further enhance this group's monkeypox knowledge,and to more scientifically and effectively respond to the risks and challenges posed by monkeypox.关键词
