Efficacy of self-prepared borneol cooling pack scalp fumigation combined with compound acid in the treatment of seborrheic dermatitis:A randomized controlled trial

Abstract
Objective To evaluate the clinical efficacy and safety of self-formulated Borneol Coolness Pack scalp fumigation combined with compound acid in the treatment of scalp seborrheic dermatitis.Methods A randomized,single-blind,controlled study was conducted.Sixty outpatients with scalp SD were enrolled and divided into a treatment group and a control group,with 30 patients in each group.The treatment group received topical application of compound acid combined with scalp fumigation using the self-formulated Borneol Coolness herbal pack,once per week.The control group received topical compound acid combined with scalp fumigation using 0.9％normal saline,also once per week.The treatment course for both groups was 4 weeks.Evaluations were performed before treatment and at the 2nd and 4th weeks after treatment,using the Physician Global Assessment(PGA)for lesion severity,Visual Analog Scale(VAS)for sebum secretion,OSS for dandruff scoring,and the Dermatology Life Quality Index(DLQI).Adverse reactions were recorded.Results At the 4th week of treatment,the treatment group showed significantly greater improvements in PGA,VAS,OSS,and DLQI scores compared to the control group(P＜0.05).No severe adverse reactions were observed in either group.Conclusions Self-formulated Borneol Coolness Pack scalp fumigation combined with compound acid is clinically effective in treating seborrheic dermatitis.It significantly improves scalp symptoms,reduces sebum secretion,enhances quality of life,and demonstrates good safety.The combination therapy is superior to compound acid treatment alone.关键词
