Research progress of stearyl CoA desaturase gene in livestock and poultry

Abstract
Stearoyl-CoA desaturase(SCD)is a member of the fatty acid desaturase family.This article aims to explore the role of the SCD gene in animal physiological processes,with the purpose of providing reference for understanding the regulatory mechanisms of fatty acid synthesis and the breeding of high-quality new varieties.Through a review and analysis of existing literature,the basic functions and structure of the SCD gene and the subtypes in different animals are summarized,systematically introducing research progress on this gene in animals such as cattle,sheep,and pigs.It has been clarified that SCD is a rate-limiting enzyme encoding fatty acid biosynthesis,participating in the synthesis of monounsaturated fatty acids in cellular metabolism,and plays an important role in animal fatty acids,milk fat synthesis,intramuscular fat deposition,and reproductive physiology.The gene is confirmed to hold a significant position in the regulation of animal fat metabolism and physiological functions,with its different subtypes showing specificity in different animals.Relevant research lays a foundation for further in-depth investigation.关键词
