Abstract

With the rapid development of the petrochemical industry,environmental and human health is-sues related to petroleum refining and chemical processes have garnered significant attention,making the risk assessment of volatile organic compounds(VOCs)in the petrochemical industry a current research focus.How-ever,the lack of a systematic review of existing research makes it difficult to grasp the commonalities and pat-terns of VOCs risks as a whole.Therefore,based on the data from existing research,a comprehensive analysis was conducted on the impact of VOCs in the petrochemical industry on ozone and health.The research results showed that in terms of ozone generation risk,olefins were the primary contributors to the ozone generation po-tential(OFP),with propylene,m/p-xylene,3-methylheptane,and trans-2-butene as key active species.OFP exhibited seasonal variation,peaking in summer due to intensified photochemical reactions.Meanwhile,its as-sessment results were significantly influenced by the calculation method,introducing uncertainty.In terms of health risks,substances such as benzene and 1,3-butadiene have an acceptable impact on human health under the VOCs control system.In the future,efforts should prioritize enhancing the leakage control of highly active alkenes and aromatics,while implementing concentration threshold management for low-active components such as alkanes.Selecting appropriate OFP calculation methods and incorporating seasonal variations,meteorological conditions,and occupational exposure factors will enhance the precision of VOCs monitoring and control capa-bilities.
