Abstract
Objective:Fundic gland-type tumors exhibit minimal cytological atypia,making them difficult to distinguish from fundic gland polyps and normal fundic gland mucosa.Previous studies have reported highly specific overexpression of CyclinD1 in fundic gland-type tumors,suggesting that it may serve as a useful biomarker for differential diagnosis.This study aims to characterize CyclinD1 expression patterns in fundic gland-type tumors and evaluate its diagnostic utility in pathological practice.
Methods:A total of 10 tumor specimens diagnosed as fundic gland-type tumors,13 fundic gland polyp specimens,and 15 specimens of normal fundic gland mucosa were collected from the Department of Pathology,Second People's Hospital of Foshan between January 2020 and June 2025.CyclinD1 expression was detected using the EnVision immunohistochemical method.Receiver operating characteristic(ROC)curve analysis was performed to assess the discriminatory performance of CyclinD1 for distinguishing fundic gland-type tumors from fundic gland polyps and normal mucosa.
Results:Among the 10 fundic gland-type cases,9 showed positive CyclinD1 staining,whereas only 1 of 13 fundic gland polyp cases demonstrated CyclinD1 positivity.All 15 normal fundic gland mucosa specimens were negative for CyclinD1.ROC curve analysis showed an area under the curve(AUC)of 0.950(95%confidence interval 0.838-1.062,P<0.01)for CyclinD1 in diagnosing fundic gland-type tumors.The optimal cutoff value was 0.900,yielding a sensitivity of 90% and a specificity of 100%.
Conclusion:CyclinD1 showed diffuse and strong positive expression in fundic gland-type tumors,but was rarely or not expressed in fundic gland polyps or normal fundic gland mucosa.These findings support CyclinD1 as a reliable diagnostic biomarker for fundic gland-type tumors and a valuable tool for distinguishing fundic gland-type tumors from fundic gland polyps and normal gastric mucosa.关键词
