Comparison of Growth Dynamics and Photosynthetic Characteristics of Gleditsia sinensis Seedlings from Different Provenances

Abstract
The aim of this study is to explore the growth dynamics and photosynthetic characteristics differences of 1-year-old Gleditsia sinensis seedlings from different provenances,screen the key evaluation indicators,pre-liminarily determine the excellent sources,and provide scientific basis for the selection and high-yield cultivation of G.sinensis varieties.Selecting 1-year-old G.sinensis seedlings from 9 different provenances as the research ob-jects,the growth dynamics of height and ground diam-eter of different G.sinensis seedlings were analyzed,as well as the daily and monthly variations of photosynthet-ic parameters such as net photosynthetic rate(Pn),stomatal conductance(Gs),transpiration rate(Tr),intercellular CO2 concentration(Ci),and chlorophyll content.The comprehensive traits performance of vari-ous germplas resources was evaluated using variance analysis and correlation analysis and the key evaluation in-dicators and excellent germplasm were screened.The growth dynamics results showed that the annual growth dy-namics of 1-year-old seedlings from different provenances exhibited a'slow-fast-slow'pattern in terms of seedling height and ground diameter.However,the beginning time of the rapid growth period of ground diame-ter for most germplasm lagged behind the seedling height,and the duration of the rapid growth period of ground diameter for all germplasm was shorter than the seedling height.There was a significant difference in the annual growth of seedling height and ground diameter,with Nongda No.1,Botanical Garden No.1,and Handan No.1 ranking among the top three in terms of indicator values,indicating good growth.The compari-son of photosynthetic characteristics showed that there were certain differences in the photosynthetic characteris-tics of G.sinensis from different provenances.Among them,the daily variation trend of Pn and Gs from June to August showed a'double peak'curve,while in September it showed a'single peak'curve.The overall trend of Tr daily variation from June to September showed a'unimodal'curve.The overall trend of Ci daily variation from June to September shows a'V'curve,with the lowest point appearing at 13:00,indicating a clear'photosynthetic lunch break'phenomenon.Among them,Nongda No.1 had the highest Pn,Gs,and Ci,while Botanical Garden No.1 had the highest Tr.With the passage of time,the monthly average chlorophyll content of germplasm resources seedlings showed a trend of first increasing and then decreasing,with Botani-cal Garden No.1 having the highest content.Based on the correlation analysis results,the key indicators for evaluating 1-year-old seedlings of G.sinensis were selected as seedling height,ground diameter,Pn,Gs and Tr.Botanical Garden No.1,Nongda No.1,and Handan No.1 have excellent traits and can be further selected for breeding of high-quality varieties,providing germplasm selection for high-yield cultivation of G.sinensis.关键词
