Correlation between Primary Chemical Components and Bending Property of Hybrid Larch

Abstract
This study analyzed the correlation between the primary chemical components and the bending properties of larch wood from two interspecific hybrid families across three tree ages,sampled at different radial positions.A comparison was conducted between two characterization metrics:chemical component density and mass fraction.The results showed that the correlations among cellulose,hemicellulose,and lignin were consistently stronger when expressed as chemical component density,with all reaching a high correlation level.Chemical component density also outperformed mass fraction in revealing the relationships between the three components and the bending properties.In particular,the coefficients of determination for linear fits between cellulose density and bending modulus of rupture(MOR)and modulus of elasticity(MOE)were 0.86 and 0.83,respectively,which were significantly higher than those obtained for cellulose mass fraction(0.14 and 0.22)and wood density(0.75 and 0.61).Thus,cellulose density could serve as an effective indicator for the rapid and reliable assessment of larch wood bending properties,especially suitable for rapid assessment in the scenarios limited to micro-destructive or minimal sampling.关键词
