Mediating role of psychological capital in perceived social support and self-management in HIV/AIDS patients

Abstract
Objective To investigate the status quo of perceived social support,psychological capital and self-management in HIV/AIDS patients,and to analyze the mediating effect of psychological capital between perceived social support and self-management in HIV/AIDS patients.Methods HIV/AIDS patients in Zhongnan Hospital of Wuhan were selected by convenient sampling,and they were surveyed using Perceived Social Support Scale,Psychological Capital Questionnaire and Self-management Scale.SPSS 26.0 was used to analyze the mediating role of psychological capital in perceived social support and self-management.Results The total score of perceived social support was 58.97±13.85 and that of psychological capital 127.41±19.24.The total score of perceived social support was positively correlated with that of psychological capital(r=0.515,P<0.01),and that of self-management(r=0.404,P<0.01).The total score of psychological capital was positively correlated with that of self-management(r=0.555,P<0.01).The mediating ef-fect of psychological capital between perceived social support and self-management was 0.585(P<0.001),accounting for 60.80%.Conclusion The total score of perceived social support in this group of HIV/AIDS patients is at a moderate level.Perceived social support in HIV/AIDS patients can directly promote patients'self-management,and can also play a role through psychological capital.It is recommended to establish a social support system to reduce or eliminate fear,exclusion and discrimination against people with AIDS.By enhancing self-management skills,patients can improve their self-efficacy,enabling them to face the disease with opti-mism and maintain a positive outlook on life.关键词
