Clinical efficacy of kinesio taping combined with continuous passive motion for patients with post-operative rotator cuff injury

Abstract
Objective To investigate the clinical efficacy of kinesio taping combined with continuous passive motion for pa-tients with post-operative rotator cuff injury.Methods A total of 40 male patients with rotator cuff injury who were admitted to Shang-hai Municipal Corps Hospital of Chinese People's Armed Police Force between June 2021 and June 2023 were selected and randomly divided into an observation group(n=20)and a control group(n=20).Both groups received conventional rehabilitation treatment.Starting from the second postoperative week,the control group received additional CPM therapy preceded by the application of non-ther-apeutic skin tape,and the observation group received kinesio tape application prior to each CPM session,in addition to the same inter-ventions as the control group.Assessments were conducted before treatment,at 6 weeks of treatment,and at the 12-week postoperative follow-up using the Visual Analogue Scale(VAS),Passive Range of Motion(PROM),Constant-Murley Score(CMS),and the Tam-pa Scale of Kinesiophobia(TSK).Results At both the 6-week and 12-week follow-ups,both groups showed significant improvements compared to baseline in VAS,TSK scores,shoulder PROM,and CMS(P<0.05).Furthermore,the observation group demonstrated significantly lower VAS and TSK scores,and significantly higher shoulder PROM and CMS scores at all post-intervention time points compared to the control group(P<0.05).Conclusions The integration of kinesio tape-supported CPM into conventional rehabilitation is more effective than CPM alone in alleviating pain,improving shoulder range of motion and function,and reducing kinesiophobia in postoperative patients with rotator cuff injuries.关键词
