Abstract

To accurately evaluate the restoration benefits of artificial precipitation enhancement on forest vegetation ecological quality in the Daxinganling Range,this study calculated the Vegetation Ecological Quality Index by integrating net primary productivity—derived from a light use efficiency model using EOS/MODIS monthly NDVI data—with vegetation coverage.This index was constructed to assess the ecological effects of artificial weather operations for forest restoration since 2012.The results showed that:(1)From 2000 to 2022,the ecological quality of forest vegetation during the growing season exhibited an overall improving trend.The proportion of areas classified as"Good"or"Medium"increased significantly.(2)Since the implementation of ecological restoration-oriented precipitation enhancement operations in 2012,the average Vegetation Ecological Quality Index in high,medium,and low frequency operation areas was 7.9%,5.5%,and 4.9%higher,respectively,than the average during 2000-2011.Remote sensing-based evaluation confirms that artificial precipitation enhancement operations have a significant positive effect on forest vegetation restoration and ecological improvement in the Daxinganling Range,providing valuable guidance for future weather modification initiatives and ecological conservation efforts.
