Abstract

To meet the requirements of integrated sensing and communication(ISAC)in the sixth generation(6G)mobile networks,terahertz(THz)communication,owing to its ultra-high carrier frequency and high transmission rate,is regarded as a key enabler for achieving millimeter-level sensing accuracy.However,current experimental studies on the sensing performance of THz systems and the effects of surrounding environments remain limited.To address this gap,a vector network analyzer(VNA)-based transceiver measurement system is constructed with the operating frequency band between 300-330 GHz,and environmental reconstruction experiments are conducted in a T-shaped corridor at the Purple Mountain Laboratories.We first introduce the THz frequency domain channel measurement system and principle based on a VNA spread spectrum scheme,including the calibration procedure,multipath parameter estimation,and data processing workflow.We then perform a comprehensive analysis of channel sensing,environmental mapping and reconstruction,revealing the mechanism behind the formation of virtual walls and the method for reconstructing wall features.In addition,the distribution characteristics of the backscattering coefficients in the measurement environment are analyzed.The results demonstrate that THz frequency band can achieve high-accuracy ranging and reliable two-dimensional environment reconstruction in the tested scenario,where the average backscattering coefficient exceeds 50 dB.The findings of this work provide valuable experimental support for the design of THz sensing systems.
