Transformation and Upgrading of Modern Large-scale Chemical Pulp Mills:From Pulp for Papermaking to Diversified High-value Products

Abstract
In response to the slowdown in growth,intensified competition,and environmental pressure in the papermaking industry,modern large-scale chemical pulp mills are expanding from traditional pulp production for papermaking to higher-value cellulose products.Currently,most high-value cellulose products rely on imports from abroad and there is an urgent need for domestic production,making the necessity of the industry's expansion towards higher-value cellulose products particularly prominent.This article systematically reviewed the four key paths to achieving this transformation:Develop high-purity dissolving pulp as raw materials for textiles and chemicals,and expand its emerg-ing applications in energy,medical care,and other fields;Develop specialty cellulose that maintain fiber structure(such as fluff pulp and fil-ter materials)to replace petrochemical products;Develop micro/nano cellulose with excellent performance;Utilize the by-products from pulp-ing to produce bio-based materials.The production technology and application status of these key products such as dissolving pulp and spe-cial cellulose-based materials were analyzed.The significance of transformation was pointed out,and the future industrial upgrading achieved through green technology adoption and product innovation was described.关键词
