Comprehensive Evaluation on Salt and Alkali Tolerance during Germination Period of Different Forage × Triticosecale Seeds

Abstract
To explore the effects of mixed salt-alkali stress on the germination characteristics of different for-age × Triticosecale seeds and to identify their salt-alkali tolerance,12 forage × Triticosecale varieties were used as materials,and 5 mixed concentration gradients composed of NaCl,Na2SO4 and NaHCO3(40,80,120,160 mmol/L and 200 mmol/L)were prepared,with distilled water as the control(ck),important indi-cators such as the germination rate,germination potential,embryo root and embryo bud length of forage × Triticosecale were determined,and a comprehensive evaluation was conducted by combining correlation analysis,principal component analysis,membership function method and cluster analysis.The results showed that with the increase of the mixed salt-alkali concentration,the germination rate,germination potential,ger-mination index and vitality index of each variety of forage × Triticosecale all showed a downward trend,and the salt-alkali stress response during the germination period of different forage × Triticosecale varieties showed different changing trends.Principal component analysis showed that fresh weight and germination index were the key indicators for evaluating salt-alkali tolerance during the germination period.Membership function analysis showed that the membership function value D of Qingshimai No.8,Jishimai No.3 and Qingshimai No.3 was significantly higher than that of other varieties.Mixed salt-alkali stress significantly inhibited the germination of forage × Triticosecale seeds,and there were significant differences in salt-alkali tolerance among varieties.The salt-alkali tolerance of Qingshimai No.8 was relatively strong.When the ger-mination rate dropped to 50%of the control,the semi-lethal concentration reached 165.7 mmol/L,and it showed good germination characteristics under mixed salt stress.关键词
