Abstract
This paper explores the development path for the conservation and renewal of historical and cultural blocks based on the urban catalyst theory. The new and old elements within the block jointly promote the improvement of the existing functions, and enhance the spatial quality and vitality of the block through implantation and activation effects.Based on the current status of the block, this paper identifies the catalytic elements from both material and immaterial perspectives.Material catalysts can be divided into two categories of characteristic buildings and public landscapes, while immaterial catalysts can be divided into three categories of industrial formats, urban memories, and citizen activities. The catalytic elements are then evaluated based on the usage and current conditions, revealing that most of the original catalytic elements within the site have not been activated, with only a few having achieved significant effects. Finally, the paper proposes the creation of catalytic mediums from three perspectives:function, culture, and space, and puts forward three main strategies:upgrading the block's industry, expressing the block's memory, linking the block's nodes. These strategies aim to stimulate the catalytic effects of the block through diversified and specific means, and to promote the conservation and renewal of historical and cultural blocks.关键词
