From Rent-Seeking to Accelerated Leverage:The Capital Accumulation Mechanism and Governance Paths of Digital Platforms

Abstract
With the rapid popularization and iteration updating of information technology,the platform economy has developed significantly,the Internet has accelerated its penetration into various industries,and the development models of various industries has increasingly exhibited platformization characteristics.Digital platforms rely on unique technological advantages and network effects to aggregate massive data resources and have in fact formed highly centralized control over these data.While endowing platforms with short-term competitive advantages,a series of problems including data monopoly and algorithmic collusion have also seriously hindered the orderly development of the economy and society.Therefore,it is necessary to deeply analyze the internal mechanism and logical context of capital accumulation in digital platforms,explore the essence and underlying causes of this phenomenon,and guide digital platforms towards a healthy development trajectory. Based on the Marx's theory of rent,this paper explores the digital platform capital accumulation mechanism hidden behind digital rent as a new form of capital appropriating surplus value in the context where virtual space gradually replaces physical space as a new object of digital colonization,digital control,and digital appropriation,and examines how the accelerated accumulation process from rent discovery to capital is achieved.Specifically,virtual space cloud rent(digital rent)is an economic realization form of digital platform ownership based on data monopoly,mainly including digital absolute rent,digital differential rent,and digital monopoly rent,whose essence still derives from the value created by the paid labor of hired workers.Driven by capital logic,the accelerated development of financial technology in the digital economy era has given rise to the emergence of the"digital-finance"complex.When digital capital is deeply integrated with financial capital,capital extends its tentacles more freely throughout the economic and social spheres.It is necessary to reshape the development logic of digital platforms centered on the people,take digital rent sharing as a breakthrough point,and accelerate the high-quality development of the platform economy. Compared with previous literature,this paper expands in two aspects:First,unlike previous studies that mostly focus on static analysis of capital accumulation in digital platforms,this paper attempts to analyze how digital platforms achieve capital accumulation through rent discovery and how they realize accelerated capital accumulation through deep interaction with financial capital,fully demonstrating the competitive iteration-embedded acceleration leverage mechanism and dynamically presenting the internal mechanism of capital accumulation in digital platforms.Second,under the capitalist system framework,the problem of digital platform monopoly is difficult to completely resolve.This paper seeks to explore governance paths toward digital rent sharing under China's basic socialist economic system,provide recommendations for the healthy development of platform enterprises,thus contribute a new governance paradigm to global digital economy development. Starting from the logical relationship between rent and surplus value,this paper to some extent reveals the dynamic process of capital accumulation in digital platforms from rent discovery to accelerated leverage,which contributes to clarifying the difficulties faced by platform economy development under the capitalist mode of production and provides feasible ideas for effectively regulating digital platform monopolies and promoting the healthy development of the platform economy.关键词
