Abstract

Since the integration of high-penetration renewable energy has accelerated the power electronic transforma-tion of power systems,the conventional system strength assessment methods such as short circuit ratio can no longer ful-ly reflect the dynamic stability of power-electronic-dominated systems.To solve this problem,a small-signal impedance modeling and wide-frequency system strength assessment metric(SSAM)for grid-connected wind power systems incor-porating grid-forming static var generators(GFM-SVGs)are proposed.First,a dq-domain small-signal impedance mod-el of the GFM-SVG is developed,taking into account the power synchronization disturbance effects.Then,the SSAM is introduced to quantify the system strength characteristics across different frequency ranges.Finally,simulation valida-tion is conducted under a wind power grid-connected scenario using PSCAD/EMTDC.Results show that the proposed SSAM demonstrates superior performance over the traditional short circuit ratio in terms of stability assessment,provid-ing a theoretical foundation and technical support for the planning and operation of power systems with high-penetration renewable energy.
