Effect of Oxygen to Fuel Ratio by Explosive Spraying on Properties of Iron-based Amorphous Coatings

Abstract
FeCrMoCBSi powder was selected as the raw material,and iron-based amorphous coatings were deposited on 316 L stainless steel substrates using explosion spraying technology.The oxygen-fuel ratio parameters were systematically varied(2.4,2.0,1.7,1.5)to investigate their effects on the microstructure,wear resistance,and corrosion resistance of the coatings.Characterization techniques included X-ray diffraction(XRD),scanning electron microscopy(SEM),Vickers mi-crohardness testing,ball-on-disk friction and wear testing,and electrochemical workstation analysis.The results indicate that as the oxygen-fuel ratio decreases,the amorphous content of the coating initially increases and subsequently decreases,while porosity and surface roughness exhibit an inverse trend.An excessively high oxygen-fuel ratio reduces the degree of particle melting during spraying,thereby increasing porosity.Conversely,an overly low oxygen-fuel ratio leads to reduced particle flight speed,resulting in decreased coating density and mechanical properties.Additionally,under such conditions,particles may become oxidized and accumulate heat,promoting crystallization of the coating.Optimal performance was achieved when the oxygen-fuel ratio was set to 1.7,at which point the iron-based amorphous coating exhibited superior cor-rosion and wear resistance,along with the best overall comprehensive properties.关键词
