摘要

Abstract

To study the pathogenic island genes,motility,biofilm formation and Galleria mellonella mortality charac-teristics of monophasic variant of S.Typhimurium 4,[5],12:i:-(MVST)in food animals in China.The virulence char-acteristics of MVST were investigated by whole genome sequencing analysis,crystal violet staining to assess biofilm formation,swimming motility test and Galleria mellonella in vivo infection.The results showed that 59 MVST carried 100%Salmonella pathogenic island(SPI)genes,and up to 7 different SPI types.MVST can form biofilm in vitro,and 32.20%have moderate or strong biofilm formation ability.Several MVST had strong swimming ability,with a maxi-mum swimming diameter of 0.93 cm.Most of the 16 isolates presented highly virulent profiles,which led to high mor-tality rates and blackening of Galleria mellonella.In this study,the characteristics of MVST from Chinese food animal sources were investigated from the aspects of gene level,biofilm formation,mobility and mortality rates.The results suggested that the characteristics of MVST were relatively complex,which might be influenced by various different factors.This will provide a basis for surveillance of Salmonella isolates.
