Growth Differences and Early Selection of Michelia fujianensis Seedling from Different Families

Abstract
In order to investigate the differences in the growth of Michelia fujianensis Q.F.Zheng seedlings from different families and to provide a reference for the early selection of superior families,the growth traits of 41 different families of Michelia fujianensis seed-lings were surveyed and analyzed.The results showed that there were extremely significant differences in seedling height,stem diame-ter,number of leaves,maximum leaf length,and maximum leaf width among the 41 family offspring seedlings.The mean values for each growth index were 26.26 cm,3.49 mm,7.57 leaves,13.24 cm and 5.09 cm respectively.with average coefficient of variation values of 40.44%,29.23%,65.79%,23.19% and 24.17% respectively.There were highly significant positive correlations among the five growth indicators,and their growth trends remained relatively consistent.The traits of the Michelia fujianensis family were strongly controlled by genetic factors and exhibit rich genetic variation.Through cluster analysis,the families can be classified into four categories:"excellent""good""average"and"poor".Among these,the"excellent"category includes Family 8,with average plant height,stem diameter,number of leaves,maximum leaf length,and maximum leaf width of 41.45 cm,4.06 mm,10.88 leaves,14.01 cm and 5.67 cm respectively.These measurements exceed the overall average by 57.84%,16.33%,43.73%,5.82% and 11.39% respectively,demonstrating outstanding performance across all metrics.Preliminary assessment confirms the 8th family was the most superior among them.关键词
