Abstract

Multiple return strike cloud-to-ground flashes cause distribution lines to suffer multiple lightning strikes in a short time,which is easy to cause failure of lightning arresters.In view of the fact that the parameter design and selection of distribution line arresters under multiple lightning strikes are seldom considered at home and abroad,this paper firstly statistically analyzes the ground lightning parameters and the proportion of multiple return strike cloud-to-ground flashes in Guangdong province from 2014 to 2023,and proposes the probability distribution of lightning current amplitude and ground lightning density distribution.Secondly,combined with the statistical results of lightning parameters and the lightning overvoltage simulation results of 10 kV distribution lines,the paper proposes the calculation method of lightning failure efficiency of line arresters under direct lightning and induced overvoltage.Finally,based on this method,it comparatively analyzes the differences in lightning failure rates of arresters with different current-carrying capacities.The results show that when D5 typed arresters are installed on a 10 km 10 kV line in the Pearl River Delta region,the annual lightning failure number is no more than 2.2 units,which is a 61.11%reduction compared to D3 typed arresters,effectively improving the safe operation level of the distribution network.This paper considers the accurate calculation method of the actual lightning parameters,the proportion of multiple return strike cloud-to-ground flashes and the failure rate of lightning arrester in Guangdong province,which can provide more clear theoretical guidance and engineering reference for the lightning protection work of the distribution network.
