Abstract

To address the performance degradation of traditional spot center localization methods under atmospheric tur-bulence,a novel localization algorithm based on a square-inscribed circle model and additive white Gaussian noise(AWGN)is proposed.The proposed method begins by acquiring distorted spot images with AWGN addition,which are processed through a series of image pre-processing steps,including global thresholding to obtain binary images.Subse-quently,canny edge detection algorithm is employed to extract the spot boundaries and acquire edge point information.By calculating the aspect ratio of the spot and selecting the smaller dimension as the side length of a square,the algo-rithm determines the spot center and the radius of the inscribed circle,thereby achieving precise localization of the spot center.To evaluate the effectiveness of the proposed method,numerical simulations are conducted and comparisons are made with three existing localization algorithms:the block centroid method,the circle fitting method,and the maximum chord length method.The performance is assessed in terms of center deviation,computational time,and mask intensity.Simulation results demonstrate that the proposed method achieves superior accuracy and robustness in spot center local-ization under challenging imaging conditions.
