Medication Patterns in Zhong Guangling's Treatment of Knee Arthralgia with Damp-Heat Obstruction Syndrome:A Data Mining-Based Analysis

Abstract
Objective To explore the medication patterns in Professor Zhong Guangling's prescriptions for knee arthralgia with damp-heat obstruction syndrome using data mining methods.Methods From January 2020 to December 2024,the prescriptions for effective outpatient cases of knee arthralgia with damp-heat obstruction syndrome treated by Professor Zhong Guangling at Foshan Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine were collected.A medical record database was established.Excel 2021 was used to analyze the occurrence frequency of herbs and the distribution of herbal properties,flavors,and meridian tropisms.SPSS Modeler 18.0 and Cytoscape 3.9.1 were employed for association rule analysis and cluster analysis of the Chinese herbal medicines.Results A total of 184 prescriptions were included,involving 212 distinct herbal medicines.The top 10 herbs by frequency of use were Coicis Semen,Phellodendri Chinensis Cortex,Atractylodis Rhizoma,Achyranthis Bidentatae Radix,Chaenomelis Fructus,Clematidis Radix et Rhizoma,Lonice Raejaponicae Caulis,Paeoniae Radix Alba,Polygoni Cuspidati Rhizoma,and Puerariae Lobatae Radix.The medicinals were predominantly pungent,bitter,and sweet in flavor,and were neutral or warm in nature,mainly attributing to the liver,spleen,and kidney meridians.Association rule analysis identified the core herbs of Achyranthis Bidentatae Radix,Coicis Semen,Phellodendri Chinensis Cortex,Atractylodis Rhizoma,Chaenomelis Fructus,Lonice Raejaponicae Caulis,Clematidis Radix et Rhizoma,Polygoni Cuspidati Rhizoma,and Paeoniae Radix Alba.Cluster analysis of the top 30 high-frequency herbs resulted in 10 distinct clusters.Conclusion For the treatment of knee arthralgia with damp-heat obstruction syndrome with Chinese herbal medicine,Professor Zhong Guangling primarily employs the therapies of clearing heat and draining dampness,dispelling wind and unblocking collaterals,targeting the liver,spleen,and kidney meridians.This approach is supplemented by the methods of tonifying the liver and kidney,strengthening tendons and bones,and harmonizing the spleen and stomach.Simultaneous attention is given to supplementing qi and nourishing blood,and protecting stomach qi.Simiao San is usually adopted by modifications for the medication,and Professor Zhong demonstrates expertise in the application of vine medicinals.关键词
