Abstract

To address the issues of airflow and temperature non-uniformity in longitudinal ventilated lactating sow housing,this study employed Computational Fluid Dynamics(CFD)simulation techniques to investigate the effects of different configurations of deflector plates with lengths ranging from 0.4 to 0.8 meters and spacings from 2 to 6 meters on airflow velocity,temperature distribution,and airflow uniform-ity within various regions of the housing.The model of the lactating sow house was validated through on-site experiments.The results indicated that(1)the airflow velocity in the exhaust vent area increased with decreasing deflector plate spacing and increasing plate length,with the maximum increment of 0.6 m/s ob-served under the condition of a 2-meter spacing and 0.8-meter plate length.(2)Conversely,the tempera-ture in the exhaust vent area decreased under the same conditions,with a maximum reduction of 0.8 ℃.(3)The deflector plates improved the uniformity of airflow above the sows,and this effect was enhanced with reduced spacing and increased length;specifically,the airflow non-uniformity coefficient at a height of 0.8 meters from the ground decreased from 0.8 to 0.15.(4)Under the specific conditions of this study,a linear regression model was established between the deflector plate length and spacing and the wind speed on the Y=0.8 m plane,with the regression equation:y=0.419x1-0.01x2+0.548,wherex1represents the deflector plate length andx2the plate spacing,with an R2 of 0.99.This research quantitatively ana-lyzed the distribution of airflow and temperature within the longitudinal ventilated lactating sow house via CFD simulation,providing a theoretical foundation for optimizing airflow and temperature conditions through the installation of deflector plates with varying lengths and spacings.
