Abstract
To determine the appropriate time for a large LNG carrier to drift in strong tailwinds,the mathe-matical model of the vessel's drift motion in tailwinds can be used to derive the expression for the drift distance of a large LNG carrier from a certain initial drift speed to a specific speed under different wind speeds.The pi-lotage practice of Tianjin Port shows that the method proposed in this paper for estimating the timing for stop-ping engine of large LNG carriers is practical and reliable.It can provide a theoretical basis for operators to de-termine the timing for stopping engine in strong tailwinds.关键词
