Abstract

In order to study the seismic performance of traditional wooden structure half-tenon joints,three sets of half-tenon joints with different sizes(scaled at a ratio of 1∶1.7)were fabricated and subjected to quasi-static tests and theoretical studies.The influence of parameters such as all-height tenon length and tenon width of half-tenon joints on the seismic performance was investigated experimentally.The seismic indexes such as damage characteristics,hysteresis curves,skeleton curves,and energy dissipation capacity were obtained,tenon pullout data were empirically fitted,and a four-linear restoring force model incorporating initial slip was proposed.The test results indicate that the primary failure modes of half-tenon joints are tenon pullout,tenon root yielding under compression,and cracking at variable cross-sections.Increasing the all-height tenon length and tenon width significantly enhances the joint's initial stiffness,peak moment,and energy dissipation capacity while mitigating tenon pullout.For the three groups of joints,namely the basic control group,the group with an increased tenon height,and the group with an increased tenon width,the loading stiffness at the damage stage is 28.8%,32.2%,and 16.7%of their respective elastic stiffness.Based on the analysis of the force mechanism,a theoretical moment-rotation(M-θ)model for the half-tenon joint was derived by establishing the geometric,equilibrium,and constitutive equations,considering the effects of local compression and loading direction.The discrepancies between the model predictions and experimental results are within 15%,verifying the accuracy of the proposed model.
