Abstract

This study investigated the effects of N 300 g,P 200 g,K 50 g,Mg 18.2 g fertilization treatments on the chemical composition and antimicrobial activity of the essential oil extracted from the leaves of 6-year-old Chamaecyparis hodginsii.The essential oil was obtained by hydrodistillation,and its chemical composition was analyzed using GC-MS.The in vitro antimicrobial activity was evaluated against 3 common foodborne pathogenic bacteria(Staphylococcus aureus,Escherichia coli,and Bacillus subtilis),and 3 pathogenic fungi(Aspergillus flavus,Aspergillus niger,and Penicillium citrinum).The results showed that 52 compounds were identified from the essential oil after 2 fertilization treatments.Among them,there were 15 main components with a GC content greater than 1%,and the total GC content was94.10%,with α-pinene(51.51%)and D-limonene(9.19%)being the major constituents.The essential oil exhibited significant and broad-spectrum antimicrobial activity against all tested strains.It was highly sensitive to S.aureus and A.flavus,moderately sensitive to E.coli,B.subtilis,and P.citrinum,and less sensitive to A.niger.The minimum inhibitory volume fraction(MIC)values for S.aureus,E.coli,B.subtilis,A.flavus,A.niger,and P.citrinum were 5%,10%,2.5%,2.5%,10%,and 5%,respectively.The minimum bactericidal fungicidal volume fraction(MBC)values were 10%,10%,5%,5%,10%,and 10%,respectively.In conclusion,the essential oil from C.hodginsii leaves demonstrates notable broad-spectrum antimicrobial activity,which is influenced by fertilization treatment.
