New Advances in the Diagnosis and Treatment of Dementia in Chinese Medicine
摘要
Abstract
Dementia,as a highly prevalent cognitive dysfunction disease among the elderly,severely impairs patients'physical and mental health.Currently,modern medical approaches to diagnosing and treating dementia are relatively limited,and Western medications often come with significant side effects,leading to poor patient compliance.There is an urgent need for a more systematic and safer treatment strategy.Traditional Chinese medicine(TCM)approaches dementia based on the holistic concept and the principles of pattern differentiation and treatment determination.TCM offers a wide range of therapeutic principles,methods,and prescriptions with minimal toxic side effects.Therefore,a comprehensive collection and in-depth elaboration of TCM theories and treatment methods for dementia are essential to provide better scientific evidence for subsequent researchers.By reviewing a vast body of domestic and international literature,this paper synthesizes recent research progress on TCM diagnosis and treatment of dementia from various schools in China.It elaborates on various TCM theoretical approaches from multiple dimensions,including the historical origins,etiology,pathogenesis,different schools,and diagnostic and therapeutic characteristics of dementia.Firstly,TCM has profound historical documentation on dementia theory,providing significant literature value for modern medical treatment of dementia.Secondly,TCM offers unique insights into the treatment of dementia based on the differentiation of the five viscera,with clear therapeutic principles and methods grounded in the theories of Qi,blood,phlegm,stasis,and deficiency.Combined with molecular biology,TCM further elucidates the substantial material basis for treating dementia through the regulation of the five viscera and the balance of Qi,blood,phlegm,stasis,and deficiency.Finally,TCM-specific therapies such as acupuncture,tuina massage,and music therapy,as complementary and alternative treatments,demonstrate superior therapeutic potential for dementia.These approaches optimize treatment plans,enhance clinical efficacy,and improve patients'quality of life.关键词
