The Essence of Rolston's Natural Value
摘要
Abstract
Holmes Rolston's theory of natural value is a doctrine that integrates the paradigm of rational pursuit with wilderness experience.However,academic discourse has predominantly focused on the rational paradigm of Rolston's theory—particularly the skepticism toward his natural value and the negation of his wilderness view—often remaining confined to the logical argumentation of conceptual rationality.This approach neglects the"gut-level knowing of natural value"derived from wilderness experience.To profoundly recognize and comprehensively understand the essence of Rolston's theory of natural value,wilderness experience,wilderness thinking,and wilderness education cannot be absent.Taking the"Wilderness Action"initiative at Harbin Institute of Technology as a case study,this paper reveals that wilderness experience is an indispensable foundational training for cultivating"Earth-friendly engineers".Furthermore,it serves as a remedy for the"nature-deficit disorder"and"singular logic-dependency syndrome".关键词
