Abstract

Food security is a matter of paramount national importance.Saline-alkali land management serves as a strategic measure to alleviate the contradiction between the supply and demand of cultivated land in China and safeguard national food security,while modern agricultural science and technology has become the core support for breaking through management bottlenecks and improving management quality and efficiency.Based on sorting out the development status of China's modern agricultural science and technology and the practical foundation of saline-alkali land management achievements,this paper clarifies the inherent logic of modern agricultural science and technology empowering saline-alkali land management from the perspectives of management efficiency and sustainability.Furthermore,it identifies the key issues in the process of modern agricultural science and technology empowering saline-alkali land management from three aspects:upstream bottlenecks,midstream predicaments,and downstream disconnections in saline-alkali land management.In response to the above issues,the paper proposes a full-chain implementation pathway:the upstream should focus on crop breeding innovation,promote water-saving technology breakthroughs,and strengthen scientific planning guidance;the midstream needs to establish a systematic integration mechanism,promote the R&D and transformation of low-cost technologies,and consolidate the capacity support for management subjects;the downstream should advance the in-depth integration of the saline-alkali land industry,accelerate the development of adaptive intelligent equipment,and construct a resource recycling system.It is expected to provide theoretical references and policy implications for effectively promoting the high-quality and sustainable development of saline-alkali land resource development and utilization in China.
