Effects of Dietary Eucommia ulmoides Leaf Extract on Growth Performance,Serum Biochemical Indices and Intestine Morphological Structure of Broilers
摘要
Abstract
To develop a feed additive derived from plant extracts for meat chickens, this experiment u-tilized Ross 308 broiler chickens(1 day old)as the experimental subjects to investigate the effects of Eu-commia ulmoides leaf extract on growth performance, serum biochemical parameters, and intestinal mor-phology.The study consisted of two groups:a control group(fed basal diet)and a 0.3%Eucommia leaf extract group(basal diet supplemented with 3 g·kg-1 Eucommia leaf extract). The experimental period lasted six weeks. The results showed that 1)the inclusion of 0.3%Eucommia leaf extract in the diet sig-nificantly increased the broilers' body weight at 21 days of age,as well as the villus height in the duode-num,jejunum,and ileum, and the weights of the liver, kidneys, and spleen(P<0.05).Additionally,it significantly decreased serum levels of total cholesterol and high-density lipoprotein(HDL)cholesterol(P<0.05).2)At 42 days of age, broilers fed with the 0.3%Eucommia leaf extract diet exhibited a signifi-cant increase in breast muscle yield and leg muscle yield(P<0.05).Furthermore,supplementation with 0.3%Eucommia leaf extract markedly increased the villus length and the villus height-to-crypt depth ratio across various intestinal segments(P<0.05),while significantly reducing serum HDL cholesterol levels(P<0.05).In conclusion, adding 0.3%Eucommia leaf extract to the diet can promote cholesterol metabo-lism in broilers, enhance nutrient digestion and absorption in the small intestine, and improve overall growth performance.关键词
