摘要

Abstract

Photodynamic therapy(PDT)has emerged as a promising treatment for tumors and has gained widespread attention in recent years.However,ultraviolet-visible(UV/VIS)light traditionally used to activate photosensitizers has limited tissue penetration,which significantly limits the therapeutic efficacy of PDT.Upconversion nanoparticles(UCNPs)have stronger tissue penetration capabilities and can convert near-infrared(NIR)light into UV/VIS light.When used as carriers for photosensitizers,UCNPs enable NIR-triggered activation of photosensitizers.Consequently,the development of a PDT system based on UCNPs presents a novel approach for enhancing PDT effectiveness.Furthermore,this system can also load other drugs via UCNPs,facilitating multimodal combination therapy.This review summarizes the research progress of UCNP-based PDT systems in combination therapy,explores the mechanisms of photo-triggered drug release,and evaluates the biosafety of these combination therapy systems,providing valuable insights for their clinical application.
