Abstract

A novel anti-tetrachiral honeycomb structure based on superelastic NiTi shape memory alloy(SMA)is proposed.Unlike the conventional anti-tetrachiral honeycomb design where adjacent rigid nodes are connected by straight ligaments,this structure adopts circular and elliptical arc-shaped ligaments to optimize the nodal connections.To systematically investigate its deformation behavior,this paper combines experimental testing and finite element analysis,focusing on the effects of load levels and geometric parameters on the mechanical response of the structure.Experimental results show that the novel structure exhibits excellent large deformation capability and negative Poisson's ratio characteristics,with a maximum peak displacement reaching 50%of the segment length.The outer arc radius and width of the ligaments are identified as key geometric parameters that significantly influence the mechanical performance of the structure.At the theoretical research level,a three-dimensional macroscopic constitutive model for NiTi SMA is established by coupling stress-induced martensitic transformation and plastic deformation.The model is implemented into finite element analysis via a user-defined material subroutine(UMAT)in ABAQUS.Numerical simulations of the novel structure are conducted based on this model.Comparative analysis demonstrates good agreement between the finite element predictions and experimental data,validating the accuracy of the numerical model in describing and predicting the mechanical response of the novel structure.This paper provides reliable theoretical support for the engineering design and performance optimization of such novel structures.
