Abstract

Ocular trauma is a highly personalized disease.Given the substantial variability in the nature,speed,and direction of the injuring agents,different patients potentially may suffer damage to various tissue with varying severity.Therefore,precise diagnosis and assessment of ocular trauma are important for determining treatment plans and predicting prognosis.This article will discuss how to conduct precisely assessment for specific injuries.It covers a range of methods,including the use of anterior segment optical coherence tomography(OCT)for evaluating corneal wounds;the application of artificial intelligence algorithms for automatic segmentation of the corneal inner and outer boundaries to achieve automated assessment;the use of anterior segment OCT for quantitative measuring anterior chamber inflammation and evaluating anterior chamber fibrinous exudation;the use of B-mode ultrasound for preoperative assessment of posterior capsule rupture in traumatic cataracts;a comparison of intraocular lens power calculation strategies for secondary implantation in traumatic cataracts;the use of spectral-domain OCT for grading commotio retinae and predicting prognosis;the application of artificial intelligence algorithms for three-dimensional quantitative measurement of the volume of ellipsoid zone loss in commotio retinae;the use of spectral-domain OCT for predicting spontaneous closure of traumatic macular holes;the use of electroretinography for quantitative assessing retinal dysfunction caused by metallic intraocular foreign body toxicity;the use of metagenomic sequencing for rapid pathogen diagnosis in infectious endophthalmitis;the use of spectral-domain OCT for assessing retinal damage caused by endophthalmitis,and the application of artificial intelligence algorithms for predicting the prognosis of traumatic no-light-perception eyes.These examples demonstrate how ophthalmic imaging,artificial intelligence,metagenomic sequencing,and other technologies can facilitate the precise diagnosis and assessment of ocular trauma.
