Abstract
Dry eye syndrome is one of the most common ocular surface diseases, primarily associated with excessive tear evaporation, which is often caused by meibomian gland dysfunction. In patients with evaporative dry eye, defects in the tear film lipid layer lead to increased tear evaporation rates, subsequently triggering ocular surface inflammation and tissue damage.Current treatments for dry eye mainly focus on promoting tear secretion or suppressing ocular surface inflamma-tion,but often fail to address the root cause of excessive tear evaporation.Perfluorohexyloctane eye drops are an anhy-drous,single-component,preservative-free prescription ophthalmic solution that directly targets the core pathological mech-anism of excessive tear evaporation. This drug exhibits excellent oxygen-carrying capacity, reduces friction between the eye-lids and the ocular surface, and rapidly spreads across the tear film surface to form a stable lipid-like barrier, effectively in-hibiting water evaporation. This mechanism not only helps stabilize the tear film but also promotes the repair and healing of the ocular surface epithelium. This article aims to provide a systematic review of the research progress on the mechanism of action, clinical efficacy, safety, and adverse effects of perfluorohexyloctane eye drops.关键词
